Current New Mexico State Law § 24-5-3 (1) allows exemptions from the vaccines required for school for medical reasons if a duly licensed physician states that the physical condition of the child is such that immunization would seriously endanger the life or health of the child.  Current law also allows for religious belief exemptions and this bill as introduced does not change the religious belief exemptions.

This bill allows a physician assistant or certified nurse practitioner to certify a medical exemption in addition to a licensed physician.
