SB 1005 was introduced on 1/18/2023 and referred to the Senate Health and Welfare Committee on 1/19/2023.  Senator Herndon is the Contact Senator on the Statement of Purpose.

SB 1005 requires licensed daycare facilities to describe exemptions with citation to code section in any communication to parents/guardians about immunization:

In existing Idaho Code (2) Any minor child whose parent or guardian has submitted to officials of a licensed daycare facility a certificate signed by a physician licensed by the state board of medicine stating that the physical condition of the child is such that all or any of the required immunizations would endanger the life or health of the child shall be exempt from the provisions of this section. Any minor child whose parent or guardian has submitted a signed statement to officials of the daycare facility stating their objections on religious or other grounds shall be exempt from the provisions of this section.

S1005 would add section (3) to read: Licensed daycare facilities shall describe the exemptions provided in subsection (2) of this section and shall provide a citation to this code section in any communication to parents or guardians regarding immunization.

Upon passage, S1005 would take effect on and after July 1, 2023.

NVIC SUPPORTS SB 1005 because it requires licensed daycare facilities to describe exemptions with citation to code section in any communication to parents/guardians about immunization. NVIC supports informed consent and education on exemptions to vaccination is a significant part of supporting informed consent.
