HB 2474 was introduced and referred to the House Health and Human Services Committee on 1/19/2023. This bill is sponsored by House Member Steve Montenegro.

HB 2474 would prohibit EUA (Emergency Use Authorization) vaccines from being required for school attendance by adding EUA vaccines to current Arizona State law, 36-672. (C) which reads:

The following immunizations are not required for school attendance:

  1. The immunization against the human papillomavirus.
  2. An immunization for COVID-19 or any variant of COVID-19

New addition:

3. An immunization for which a united states food and drug administration emergency use authorization has been issued.

NVIC SUPPORTS HB 2474 because it prohibits EUA vaccinations from being required for school attendance. NVIC is opposed to all vaccination mandates. Vaccines are pharmaceutical products that carry a risk of injury and death and should not be a condition for school attendance. EUA vaccinations are not subjected to the same testing and regulations and can carry an increased risk of injury and death and should not be a condition for school attendance.
