UPDATE: 1/3/2024 - S3373 carried over and was referred to the Senate Health Committee on 1/3/2024.

A1736 was introduced and referred to the Assembly Health Committee on 1/20/2023. This bill is sponsored by Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz and cosponsored by Representatives Reyes, Taylor, Magnarelli, Hevesi, and Glick.

S3373 was introduced and referred to the Senate Health Committee on 1/31/2023. This bill is sponsored by Senator James Skoufis and cosponsored by Senator Hoylman-Sigal

A1736 and S3373 would amend the public law to record the number of vaccine exemptions reported by each health care provider in the Immunization Information System. The data system must be designed so that it allows the commissioner of health and his or her designees to search and access the number of exemptions reported by each individual health care provider.

If these bills pass, their provisions will go into effect 180 days after they becomes law.

NVIC is opposed to these bills as they would enable public health officials to target and punish health care providers who recognize that vaccines can sometimes cause injury or death and should not be given.
