UPDATE: 1/10/16 -  S 3898 is a bill that was carried over from 2015. This bill did not have any activity in 2015.  The bill was referred to the Senate Committee on Health on 1/6/2016.

S 3898 was introduced on 2/20/2015 and referred to the Senate Committee on Health.  The bill is sponsored by Senator Hoylman. Current law says any health care provider who administers a vaccine to an adult "may" report this to both the state and the City of New York Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene.  This bill changes "may" to "shall" report.  It is not clear how consent would be obtained from the vaccinee.

Any health care provider who administers any vaccine to a person nineteen years of age or older, [may] SHALL report, with the consent of the vaccinee, all such immunizations to the department in a format prescribed by the commissioner within fourteen days of administration of such immunizations. Health care providers administering immunizations to persons nineteen years of age or older in the city of New York [may] 10 SHALL report, with the consent of the vaccinee, in a format prescribed by the city of New York commissioner of health and mental hygiene, all such immunizations to the citywide immunization registry. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law.
