Encourages all hospitals to offer TDaP vaccines to maternity patients or parents of new babies

Location: NE
Title: Encourages all hospitals to offer TDaP vaccines to maternity patients or parents of new babies
Identifier: LB 650
Stance: OPPOSE
Action Required: None at this time
Status: Died, failed to move forward

Description:

UPDATE: 4/22/2016 - LB 650 was postponed indefinitely on April 20, 2016, the last of the session and died.  Bills carry over from odd to even years.

LB 650 was introduced by Senator Nordquist but he has resigned.  The bill was carried over from 2015 and reintroduced on 1/6/2016.

The bill adds the following new section to the existing law that requires hospitals offer flu and tetanus
diphtheria-pertussis vaccines to employees.

(4) Each general acute hospital is encouraged to offer to all maternity patients or parents of new babies a single dose of tetanus diphtheria-pertussis vaccine if they have not previously received such vaccine and regardless of the time since their most recent vaccination with such vaccine.

This bill is unnecessary.  This bill also needs to be watched carefully for any amendments that could remove the section of the law that allows employees to elect not to be vaccinated.
