UPDATE: 4/6/2017 - HB 388/SB 598 have been assigned Public Chapter Number 22 by the Secretary of State on 4/4/2017.

HB 388 was filed for introduction on 2/2/2017.  This bill is sponsored by Rep. Kevin Brooks. The Senate version, SB 598, was filed on 2/8/2017 and is sponsored by Senator Haile

These bills would require local education authorities and nonpublic schools to provide parents and guardians with information about influenza disease and the effectiveness of vaccination against influenza at the beginning of every school year. This information must include the causes, symptoms, and means by which influenza is spread and the places where parents and guardians may obtain additional information and vaccinations for their children. Nothing in this section requires an LEA or school to provide or purchase vaccine against influenza.
