Description:

UPDATE: 6/19/2017 - SB 831 failed to move forward in the 2017 legislative session, however bills can carry over to the 2018 session.

UPDATE: 4/5/2017 - SB 831 has not had any activity since being referred to the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services. 

UPDATE 2/3/2017: SB 831 will have a second reading on 2/7/2017 and was referred to the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services.

SB 831 is scheduled for a first reading on 2/6/2017.  This bill is sponsored by Senator Silk. 

This bill would require parents be notified of vaccine exemptions by adding the following new section:

In notifying parents or guardians of the requirements of this section, school boards of education shall include information
about the exemptions from vaccination requirements provided by Section 1210.192 of this title. The provisions of this subsection
shall apply to all forms of communication including, but not limited to, e-mails, Internet websites, social media or paper mail delivered to the physical address of the parent or guardian.

This bill would also clarify existing language concerning when a child can be excluded from school be adding the term with communicable disease to existing law.  The bill also removes private schools from the existing quarantine and isolation law.
