UPDATE: 4/5/2017 - HB 6971 has not had any activity since being introduced. 

HB 6971 is scheduled to be introduced on 1/26/2017 and referred to the Joint Committee on Health.  This bill is sponsored by Representatives Linehan and Elliott. 

This bill would require parents go through state mandated "science based educational sessions" for their religious belief exemptions by adding the following new law:

AN ACT CONCERNING VACCINATION EDUCATION FOR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS OF CHILDREN SEEKING AN EXEMPTION FROM IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS FOR RELIGIOUS REASONS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 10-204a of the general statutes be amended to require any parent or guardian who presents a statement that the immunizations under said section would be contrary to the religious beliefs of such parent or guardian or his or her child to have attended a science-based educational session regarding the efficacy and safety of vaccines prior to such child being exempted.
