UPDATE: 5/9/2023 - H.187 failed to be scheduled for a hearing in the House Committee on Human Services before the session adjourned on 5/9/2023. Bills can carryover from odd to even years in Vermont.
H.187 was introduced and referred to the House Committee on Human Services on 2/7/2023. This bill is sponsored by Representative Higley with 5 co-sponsors.
This bill proposes to establish an exemption to immunizations required for attendance at school and child care facilities on the basis of conscientious and personal beliefs. The bill also eliminates the requirement that parents using an exemption review information provided by the Department of Health and requires the Department of Health to provide a person or, in the case of a minor, the person’s parent or guardian, the opportunity to freely accept or decline any immunization; and honor the person’s or, in the case of a minor, the person’s parent or guardian’s decision in all policies.
