On 8/10/2021, the governor of Pennsylvania announced that state employees in state-run health care facilities and high-risk congregate care facilities must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by 9/7/2021 or undergo weekly testing. Anyone hired at these facilities after 9/7/2021 must be fully vaccinated.

 

This mandate affects nearly 25,000 employees in state hospitals, centers for people with intellectual disabilities, veterans homes, community health centers, and state correction institutions.

 

In addition, the governor announced a COVID-19 vaccine incentive for state employees. Beginning 10/1/2021, all vaccinated state employees under the governor’s jurisdiction are eligible for an additional 7.7 or 8 hours of PTO.
