Description:

The governor of South Dakota issued Executive Order 2021-14 on 10/27/2021. The order prohibits a state employees from being subject to a COVID-19 vaccine mandate if he or she provides either:

 

(1)  A written statement from a physician for a medical exemption, or

(2)  A signed statement by the employee on a for prescribed by the Bureau of Human Resources for a religious exemption, which also encompasses moral, ethical, and philosophical beliefs or principles.

 

The order does not apply to members of the South Dakota National Guard, who are subject to federal activation. The governor indicates in this order that she would not have chosen a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for these individuals.
