Description:

The governor of Alabama issued Executive Order 274 on 10/25/2021. It requires all entities under the state executive branch to cooperate with the Alabama Attorney General regarding litigation brought by the state to challenge federal COVID-19 vaccination requirements.

The order prohibits state executive branch entities from enforcing federal COVID-19 vaccine mandates. They may not penalize any businesses or individuals for not complying with a federal vaccine mandate. If this is inevitable due to state law, then the entity must notify a business or individual that the State of Alabama does not approve, condone, or otherwise endorse a penalty of this nature.

The order also instigates protections from COVID-19 vaccine mandates or passports for  state executive branch employees regarding the issuance, publication, and sharing of immunization records not already required by state law.

Finally, the order prohibits the executive branch from putting COVID-19 vaccination requirements on state contractors. If this is inevitable due to state law, then the entity must notify the business or individual that the State of Alabama does not approve, condone, or otherwise endorse a requirement of this nature.
