Description:

UPDATE: 7/7/2017 - A1230A/S6346 failed to move in the 2017 legislative session ended.  However, bills can carry over to 2018 in New York if the sponsor requests it. 

UPDATE: 5/22/2017 - AB1230A was referred to codes on 5/16/2017. 

UPDATE: 5/4/2017 A1230 was recommitted to the Assembly Committee on Health on 5/4/2017 and given the bill number A1230AS6346, the companion bill for A1230A,  was introduced and referred to Senate Health on 5/11/2017.

S6346 is sponsored by Senator Hoylman.

These bills would add the following mandate for flu vaccines for children attending daycare:

d. Every person in parental relation to a child in this state entering or having entered a licensed and registered child daycare home, program or facility shall have administered to such child an  adequate  dose  or doses of immunizing agents against influenza virus as recommended by the advisory  committee on immunization practices of the centers for disease control and prevention, which meets the standards approved by the United States public health service for such biological products, and which  is approved  by the department under such conditions as may be specified by the public health and planning council.

A1230 was introduced on 1/11/2017 and referred to the Assembly Committee on Health.  This bill is sponsored by Assembly Member Dinowitz.  

This bill would mandate flu vaccine for children attending a licensed registered child daycare home, program or facility on or after September 1, 2017.
