UPDATE 2/1/2017: HB 88 died in Committee on 1/31/2017.

HB 88 was introduced on 1/3/2017 and referred to the House Public Health and Human Services Committee.  This bill is sponsored by Rep. Dan Eubanks and is titled, The Mississippi Adult Health and Privacy Act.  

This bill would establish a new state law providing that each person who is eighteen (18) years of age or older shall have the right to determine, in their sole discretion, whether he or she will receive vaccinations or immunizations for any disease. 

This bill would also add that a person, organization or other entity, whether public, private or governmental, shall not:

          (a)  Require any person who is eighteen (18) years of age or older to receive a vaccination or immunization for any disease as a condition of employment or a condition of receiving any benefit or service; or

          (b)  Use any means of direct or indirect intimidation or threat of termination of any such person's employment, or denial or reduction of any benefit or service to any such person, or disclosure of any such person's medical history or records to others, in order to cause the person to receive a vaccination or immunization for any disease.
