Description:

UPDATE: 1/10/2016 - S 3899 is a bill that carried over from 2015.  The bill did not move in 2015.  It was referred to the Senate Committee on Higher Education on 1/6/2016.

S 3899 was introduced on 2/20/2015 and referred to the Senate Higher Education Committee.  The bill is sponsored by Senator Hoylman.   The bill would allow pharmacists to administer flu vaccines to children 9 years old and older.   The bill says nothing about parental consent, what training would be required or what information would need to be provided on risks,  if the flu vaccine being given contains mercury or if the flu vaccine is a live virus vaccine that sheds.  

6. A LICENSED PHARMACIST MAY ADMINISTER IMMUNIZATIONS TO PREVENT INFLUENZA TO A PERSON NINE YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER. S 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law; provided, however, that the amendments to section 6801 of the education law made by section one of this act shall not affect the expiration of such section and shall be deemed to expire therewith.
