Description:

S 2712 and A 1528 are bills that were introduced in 2015, but did not move forward.  They were referred back to the Assembly and Senate Health Committees on Jan. 6, 2016. S 2712 is sponsored by Senator Krueger and A 1528 is sponsored by Assembly Member Paulin.

Both of these bills would allow minors to be vaccinated with vaccines for sexually transmitted diseases, including HPV, without parental consent or knowledge by adding the following into law:

A HEALTH CARE PRACTITIONER MAY PROVIDE HEALTH CARE RELATED TO  THE

PREVENTION  OF A SEXUALLY TRANSMISSIBLE DISEASE, INCLUDING  ADMINISTERING VACCINES, TO A PERSON UNDER  THE  AGE  OF  EIGHTEEN  YEARS  WITHOUT  THE CONSENT  OR  KNOWLEDGE  OF  THE  PARENTS  OR  GUARDIANS  OF SUCH PERSON, PROVIDED THAT THE PERSON HAS CAPACITY TO CONSENT TO  THE  CARE,  WITHOUT REGARD TO THE PERSON'S AGE, AND THE PERSON CONSENTS.
