New mandates for tracking flu vaccination status of health care workers

Location: NH
Title: New mandates for tracking flu vaccination status of health care workers
Identifier: SB 108
Stance: WATCH
Action Required: Contact conference committee members with concerns
Status: In Senate Conference Committee

Description:

UPDATE: 8/3/2015 - SB 108 is still listed as being in the Senate Conference Committee.  The NH Legislature is currently in recess until 9/16/15 and they adjourn on 9/30/15.  Bills carry over from odd-numbered years to even-numbered years.

UPDATE: 6/7/2015 - SB 108 was amended and passed by the house to include a statement saying, Nothing in this section shall be construed to mandate or require influenza vaccination for health care personnel and patients/residents.

However, the senate did not concur with these amendments, so the bill is going to a conference committee with Senators Sanborn, Avard, and Kelly.

UPDATE: 4/11/2018 - SB 108 passed the HOUSE HEALTH, HUMAN SERVICES & ELDERLY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE on 03/26/2015

UPDATE: 3/4/2015 - SB 108 was amended in committee to remove the section that requires tracking of flu vaccination.

SB 108 had hearing in the Senate Health and Human Services Committee on 02/03/2015. The bill is still in that committee. This bill is sponsored by Sen. Stiles, Carson, Fuller and Clark and  Representatives McMahon,Hess, Merr, Rosenwald, Hills, Sherman and Rock.

This bill adds additional mandates for the tracking and reporting of influenza vaccination status for healthcare workers with no protections for exemptions from influenza vaccine mandates and no corresponding requirement to track outcomes of these vaccines.

The bill is unnecessarily coercive and provides no assurances of disease protection for employees or patients.  The requirement for the reporting of influenza vaccination status should be stricken from the bill or the bill should be voted down.

Please email and call the committee members in opposition to this bill as written.
