UPDATE: 4/22/2015 - HB 411 was placed on the house calendar for 4/21/2015. The bill was "laid on the table", died on 4/21.

UPDATE: 4/3/2015 - SB 332 passed the full Senate on 4/1/2015.  The bill has not been amended and still allows residents to refuse..

UPDATE: 2/10/2015 - HB 411 passed the Health Innovation Subcommittee on a YEAS 11 NAYS 0 vote.  This bill is now in the Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee.  SB 332 is scheduled for a hearing in the  Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services, 02/18/15, 10:00 am, 401 Senate Office Building.

HB 411 and SB 332 were introduced on 1/20/2015. The bills makes changes to the existing law concerning pneumococcal vaccines for nursing home residents to require all residents be assessed as eligibility for pneumococcal vaccine within 5 days of admission.  The bills requires residents be vaccinated within 60 days, if indicated.  Residents can refuse the vaccine for medical contraindications and religious or personal beliefs.  The bills should watched to make sure no negative amendments are added.
