SB 133 was introduced on 1/4/2017 and is sponsored by Senator Frank Mrvan. This bill was referred to the Committee on Health and Provider Services.
This bill would require hospitals to mandate vaccines, allow the hospital to determine whether the tenets of the religion relied upon by an individual for a religious exemption prohibit the individual from receiving an immunization, allow the hospital to terminate the employee or contractor for refusing a vaccine and provide immunity from any liability arising from or concerning the termination or discipline of an individual refusing a vaccine.
The mandates would apply to Physicians, Volunteers, Residents, Temporary workers, Students and Vendors. Vaccines that could be mandated are, Influenza, Varicella, Measles, mumps, and rubella,Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis and any other communicable diseases determined by the hospital.
