HB 3875 is identical to SB 1114 and was introduced on 3/13/2015. HB 3875 is sponsored by Rep. Colman.
SB 1114 was filed on 3/9/2014 and is sponsored by Senator Sylvia Garcia. This bill would require each public school in Texas to develop and implement a policy concerning vaccine-preventable diseases. The policy MUST require each school employee to receive vaccines for the vaccine-preventable diseases specified by the school, specify the vaccines a school employee is required to receive and state the disciplinary actions the public school is authorized to take against a school employee who fails to comply with the policy.
There would be NO religious or conscientious belief exemptions allowed, only very limited medical exemptions based on medical conditions identified as contraindications or precautions by the CDC.
The commissioner shall adopt rules as necessary to implement the new law.
