Current law allows pharmacists to administer flu vaccines pursuant to a vaccine order or protocol with a physician. This bill would expand that to include all vaccines for adults. This bill allows pharmacist to administer vaccines to children, with parental consent except for the following:
influenza vaccine to any child under the age of 13 without an individual prescription from a physician,;
(2) A pneumococcal disease vaccine to any child under the age of 18 without an individual prescription from a physician;
(3) Any vaccines containing a live attenuated virus to a child under the age of 13; or
(4) A meningitis vaccine to any child under the age of 18.
The bill also clarifies that meningitis vaccines or information about meningitis vaccines must be administered or given nnot more than 5 years prior for college students living in campus housing.
This bill should be watched for amendments.
