UPDATE: S 3900 has not moved since being referred to committee. The NY Legislature is in recess until 1/16/2016. Bills from 2015 will carry over to 2016.
S 3900 was introduced on 2/20/2015 and referred to the Senate Committee on Higher Education. The bill is sponsored by Senator Hoylman. The bill would expand existing law that allows pharmacists and nurse practitioners to administer flu, pneumococcal and shingles vaccines to include all routine vaccines recommended by the ACIP. The bill also gives the Commissioner of Health the authority to issue a non-patient specific vaccine regime that would apply to the whole state if there is an outbreak of disease or imminent threat of an outbreak of disease.
