UPDATE: 3/7/2017 - Senator Sara Gelser, the Chair of the Senate Committee on Human Services has not scheduled a hearing for SB 687 and she may not. Please call Senator Sara Gelser's office at 503-986-1708 and ask that there be a hearing held on SB 687. State law provides for vaccine exemptions and vaccine promoters should not be able to use the threat of CPS to coerce vaccination.
UPDATE 2/7/2017: SB 687 was referred to the Senate Committees on Human Services and Health Care on 2/6/2017.
SB 687 was introduced on 2/1/2017 and is sponsored by Senator Boquist.
This bill would enact a new section of law that would clarify the definition of child abuse does not include not vaccinating or delaying vaccination by adding the following:
(b) “Abuse” does not include:
(B) Refusal to vaccinate a child or a decision to delay vaccination of a child.
