UPDATE: 4/6/2017 -SF 116 has not had any activity since being introduced. Bills in Iowa are required to move out of committee by March 3, 2017, so this bill failed to meet the deadline. However, bills can carry over from odd-numbered years to even-numbered years.

SF 116 was introduced on 1/24/2017 and referred to the Senate Human Resources Committee. This bill is sponsored by Senators Quirmbach and Dvorsky.
This bill would require a person applying for a religious belief exemption to get the signature of the leader of the local congregation of a recognized religious denomination of which the applicant is an adherent or member of stating that the immunization conflicts with the tenants and practices of the religious denomination the local congregations belongs and that the applicant is a member in good standing of the local congregation.
