SB 47 was introduced on 1/18/2017 and referred to the Senate Health & Human Services. This bill is sponsored by Senators Raptakis, and Morgan.
This bill would do the following:
Add a personal belief exemption to vaccination in Rhode Island.
Add a provision that no person shall be required to be immunized for human papillomavirus (HPV) as a condition of entering or inclusion in any public or private school or university in this state.
Add a provision that the department of health shall only set minimum standards for those diseases which are transmissible in a school environment.
Require the director of the department of health to conduct a minimum of three public hearings whenever a change to the minimum standards for immunizations is proposed.
